Ingredients
- 400g beef cube (2 steaks)
- ⅓ cup flour + ¼ cup flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ cup yogurt
- ½ tbsp tabasco
- 1 egg
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- sunflower oil
- 1-2 cups milk
- salt and pepper to taste
Method
- Get cube steaks from a butcher or pound out regular steaks until thin. Place the ⅓ cup flour in a shallow bowl.
- Heat enough oil to shallow fry the steaks in a skillet to 165°C
- In a separate shallow bowl mix together the baking powder and soda, black pepper, and salt. Then incorporate the yogurt, tabasco, egg and garlic.
- Coat steak with flour, shake off excess, dip into batter, shake excess, and then press back into the flour again and both sides are coated.
- Shallow fry until golden brown and remove most of the oil from the skillet once done, leaving enough to make gravy.
- Heat up the oil again, add about ¼ cup flour and cook and scrape until it is browned. Pour the milk and mix in small batches, cooking for 5-7 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste. Pour gravy on top of steaks.
